PHYSICAL REHABILITATION

Although the concept of animal rehabilitation is relatively novel as veterinary therapy, it is widely documented in human medicine. So if it works so well on us, why not treat our pets as well?

Not only does it help us reduce the period of convalescence or post-surgical, but it also avoids secondary problems to immobilization and decreases the use of medications such as anti-inflammatories and analgesics, improving the quality of life of acute and chronic patients.

A good veterinary diagnosis is essential to choose the most appropriate therapy. Once the injury is diagnosed, the veterinarian specialized in physical therapies and rehabilitation, will carry out a thorough functional assessment identifying the goals to be achieved in each patient (relieve pain, improve coordination, work the muscles, get it to support the affected limb, etc.) and will design an individual rehabilitation plan for him. This will be adapted in each session depending on the improvement of the patient and will choose between the possible techniques that most helps him.
